What's in a name?

Updated: Aug 29, 2021

The story behind the name of my blog.

Little Bear in the Wood was a name that came to me after adopting my lovely dog, Darcy Bear. The reason? She saved me. How? I was lost, and had been for many years - having her in my life made my existence seem so much more valid. I had purpose for my existence. You might think this is a little extreme but not to me. I didn’t know at that time of my true identity but I was profoundly aware that I didn’t and couldn’t find a way to experience a sense of belonging, no matter how hard I tried.

Darcy loved me without judgement and looked to me for guidance. I had never had such a positive relationship. It was easy and satisfying; unlike many of the human relationships that had been forged.
