In D/deaf culture. Deaf is associated with the social model of disability. Deaf people see their differences and language as an identity, a culture and not a disability. deaf people are more likely to see them selves as disabled, often losing their hearing later on in life and due to this loss, may look for ways around their deafness in an attempt to hear again and feel that familiar sense of belonging with their predominant hearing peers and not part of the Deaf community.
I believe that this could be used with A/autism; This is just my theory and I feel could give communication of where each individual sees themselves without having to go into great depth to those who understand this concept. Autopia maybe? Autopia; a word that suggests, as the word utopia means, an Autistic paradise where Autistic people exist in a place that from root to tip is designed by Autistic people with Autistic people in mind and the brain child of Dr Luke Beardon.
